Emergency Notification Test

CFISD will send out a test on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m. via its mass notification system, SchoolMessenger, to confirm that parents are signed up to receive emergency messages from the district.

Parents who are already signed up in the system will receive a phone call, text and an email.

Parents who only receive a phone call may not be registered in SchoolMessenger. To ensure that parents are signed up in the system and that all contact information is current, log on to www.cfisd.net/messenger and follow the simple instructions.

The easy, one-time process requires only three things for parents:

• The ID number for each student in the family;
• The primary phone number on file with the school(s); and
• A valid email address.

General questions about SchoolMessenger can be directed to the CFISD Customer Care Center at 281-955-4030 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Questions regarding student ID number and primary phone number on file can be directed to the school.

School Messenger and eNews

CFISD has implemented an updated notification system, School Messenger, to communicate with CFISD residents. School Messenger will be used to send notifications about the most significant issues directly impacting CFISD. These communications are now called eNews and replace the Key Communicator system.  eNews includes general information such as Community Connect and letters from the Superintendent, as well as urgent and emergency alerts, such as weather alerts or school closings.

Depending on the nature of the notification, School Messenger will be used to contact individuals through email, phone and/or text message. The use of this system ensures prompt and orderly communication between CFISD and the community. To stay updated, it is important to subscribe to eNews on the district website.

ACBM Removal and Compliance

In accordance with Environmental Protection Agency 40 CFR 765 regulations, all parents and district employees are hereby informed that inspection of asbestos containing building material (ACBM) in Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District facilities was recently performed.

This inspection confirmed that the district's buildings are in compliance, and that the district continues to provide a safe environment for its staff and students. The individual building re-inspection reports are on file in the Management Plan books located in facility administration areas.

Additionally, during the past twelve (12) months, ACBM was removed from Watkins Middle School. For more information contact Archie Hayes, Director of Maintenance, at 281-897-4292.
