Non-profit donates backpacks to Andre' ES

Leadership in Full Effect (L.I.F.E.), a non-profit organization, donated 25 backpacks filled with school supplies to Andre’ ES on Aug. 19.

According to school counselor Felicia Thomas, the backpacks that were generously given by the company were distributed to students based on their level of need.

“We value the contribution of outside businesses to our school,” Thomas said. “It allows our students to have the materials they need to be successful in school and assists the parents who may not be able to meet the need.”

Jelicia Reed, L.I.F.E. co-founder and chief executive officer, said that as a new business in the community and a new member of the Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce, the objective of their organization is to become a support system for schools in the area.

“Our organization is a firm believer that it takes a community to raise a child and we are striving to become that support system,” Reed said. “Giving back is what is asked of me. Through Leadership in Full Effect I now have the ability, therefore, I do and always will. The Andre’ community is my new neighbor.”

Reed, along with co-founder Omar Reed, recently moved to the Cypress area. The desire to assist children, young adults and their community is something they both are passionate about.

According to the Reeds, they are looking forward to an exciting school year and the opportunity to become more familiar with Andre’ ES and provide more support throughout the year.
