Hopper BBS program end-of-year celebration

Hopper Middle School hosted its first end-of-the-year celebration on May 17-18 for the students who participated in the school's Becoming Better Students (BBS) program. Formed by seventh-grade school counselor Kindall Tyson and seventh-grade assistant principal Diana Bell, BBS focuses on a small group of students with the goal to inspire personal, social and academic growth and who demonstrated academic and behavioral improvement throughout the school year. The students met monthly to explore their potential, set goals and improve their personal and academic outcomes.

During the celebration, Katy Fire Department senior fire captain Monyel Page spoke encouraging words to the male students of BBS on how 'resilience is key to success.' The female students were inspired by the words of Houston Municipal Court Judge Rachelle White. Judge White spoke about becoming the best versions of themselves and striving for excellence in all they endeavor to do.

Several parents and staff members volunteered their talents and time to make the program and celebratory events a success. In recognition of the students’ success, each of the female students received a string of pearls and the male students received a tie.
