Two Cypress Woods Boy Scouts build for Nature Trails

During the month of October the Cypress-Fairbanks Nature Trails received two projects from district Boy Scouts.

Logan Davis of Troop 658 from Cypress Woods HS designed and built a new shade structure for part of the fifth grade trails. The new structure will allow teachers and students to investigate bird beaks and feet without being in direct sunlight. This also helps protect the bird skull and feet specimens from the elements.

Daniel Kubis of Troop 540 from Cypress Woods HS redesigned and built both third-grade lever stations. The new levers are sturdier and have a new safety feature to prevent students from pushing the levers into a position that is unsafe.

“Many of these Eagle Scout projects through the years have been led by scouts who participated in Nature Trail activities as third and fifth-grade students,” commented  Elementary Science Coordinator Monica Schmidt. “We are so thankful to have such dedicated scouts to give back to the CFISD community.”
